Editorial standard
“Best” should mean something.
Stumble Reads replaces algorithmic authority with editorial judgment. That only works if the judgment is visible, consistent and correctable.
01
It rewards the time
A recommendation must leave the reader with an idea, image or question worth carrying away.
02
The writing matters
We choose pieces for how they think and how they are made—not merely because the topic is useful.
03
It survives its moment
Most selections should remain worth reading years later. Topical exceptions are labelled and reviewed again.
04
The source is respected
We link to the original publisher, separate author from publication, quote sparingly and never present copied work as ours.
05
The shelf stays broad
New additions are judged against gaps in subject, format, era, geography and perspective—not a target article count.
06
Links are maintained
Active recommendations are checked for availability. Dead or substantially changed pieces are quarantined until reviewed.
What we do not optimize for
Clicks, outrage, recency, publication prestige, affiliate revenue or keeping you on Stumble Reads. The successful outcome is that you leave to read something excellent.
